Protein-tyrosine kinase 2-beta (PTK2B or PYK2), a calcium-dependent non-receptor tyrosine kinase, belongs to focal adhesion kinase family and shares approximately 47% amino acid sequence with FAK (or PTK2). As a member of focal adhesion family, PTK2B's phosphorylation enables interactions with other scaffold and effector proteins that regulate cell migration, adhesion, spreading, actin cytoskeleton reorganization and focal adhesion contact.
