Search Tips

Our antibody search tool looks for the Antigenic Specificity of the antibody by default. It will look for all of the terms in your search string, but the order of the terms does not matter (e.g. "Human CD95" will return the same results as "CD95, human"). If you get no results (or too few), try broadening your search by using a shorter search string, alternate name, or alternate spellings for your search term(s). Many suppliers use gene symbols rather than full protein names, so it is good to search for both.

In general, Greek characters are spelled out in English, e.g. "gamma-Interferon", "beta-Amyloid" etc. so that you can include them in your search term. It is best to use a hyphen or a space to separate the Greek letter from the rest of the search term, but due to some inconsistency in  how  different suppliers punctuate with Greek letters, you may want to do an extra search without a hyphen or space (e.g. "betaAmyloid") to make sure you find all possible results.

If you get too many results, you can narrow your search by adding search terms and/or using the pull down menus to limit the results. The pull down menus allow you to focus your search on specific parameters of the antibodies for which you are searching:

  • Host Species (animal in which the antibody was generated)
  • Reactive Species (species with which the antibody reacts)
  • Applications (uses for which the supplier has tested or recommends the antibody)
  • Conjugates/Formats (labels, purities and fragments in which antibodies are offered)
  • Isotype of Host Antibody (specific isotype or subclass of the antibody)
  • Clonality (monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies or hybridomas that may be available)

If you get more than 50 results, you may also filter by supplier: just select the supplier(s) of interest on the list that appears, and then click the "Search Antibodies" button again to see only their products that match your search term.

To search for a monoclonal antibody or hybridoma by clone name, first change the radio button selection from "Antigenic Specificity" to "Keyword". Note that the inconsistency in how suppliers write clone names can make it difficult to find all the listings with one search (e.g. a keyword search for “MEM55” may produce different results than a search for “MEM-55”).

Though not all suppliers include them in their data, you can also search for Accession Numbers (UniProt, SwissProt, NCBI, etc.) by doing a "Keyword" search for just the number (e.g. P28330).

To locate Secondary Antibodies, search the "Antigenic Specificity" for the species and class/isotype of the antibody you are targeting, e.g. "Mouse IgG2a" or "Rat IgM" etc.

If you are looking for isotype controls or other preimmune immunoglobulins, please use our Other Products/Services search tool and select “Immunoglobulins, Isotype Controls, Chains, Fragments & Conjugates”  from the "Product Type" pull down menu. Then search for the species and immunoglobulin of interest (e.g. “Mouse IgG2a”, “Human Kappa Chain”, “Chicken IgY” etc.). If you want a labeled control, include the conjugate name in your search (e.g. "Mouse IgG2a FITC").

A number of suppliers offer matched Antibody Pairs for developing immunoassays. While the individual antibodies can probably be found in our Antibody Search, we have generally listed the Antibody Pairs in the Kits category of our Other Products/Services section.

If you can not find what you are looking for, please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to help.
