| Description | Rabbit polyclonal to LXRA.Liver X receptor alpha (LXRA) belongs to the nuclear hormone receptor family, NR1 subfamily. LXRAis an orphan receptor. LXRA can form a heterodimer with RXR, which shifts RXR from a silent DNAbindingpartner to an active ligand-binding subunit in mediating retinoid responses through targetgenes defined by LXRES. LXRES are DR4-type response elements characterized by direct repeats oftwo similar hexanuclotide half-sites spaced by four nucleotides. LXRA plays an important role in theregulation of cholesterol homeostasis, regulating cholesterol uptake through MYLIP-dependentubiquitination of LDLR, VLDLR and LRP8. |
