Description | CD59 Antibody, anti-rat, Biotin, REAfinity™. Clone REA452 recognizes the rat CD59 antigen, a 21 kDa glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) linked cell-surface glycoprotein which is also known as MAC-inhibitory protein (MAC-IP), membrane attack complex inhibition factor (MACIF), or protectin. CD59 is widely distributed, being present on all epithelia, endothelia, and on circulating cells, including erythrocytes, monocytes, and some lymphocytes. It inhibits the lytic activity of complement by binding to C8 and C9, thereby blocking the incorporation of mutiple C9 molecules into the membrane attack complex thus preventing functional pore formation. | Additional information: Clone REA452 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
