Description | CD63 Antibody, anti-rat, Biotin, REAfinity™. Clone REA444 recognizes the rat CD63 antigen, a multi-pass membrane protein which is also known as mast cell antigen AD1 or melanoma antigen ME491. CD63 is located on the basophilic granule membranes in resting basophils, mast cells, and platelets, and is also located on the plasma membranes of these cells. It is also found on rat embryonic fibroblasts and hepatic cell. CD63 belongs to the tetraspanin transmembrane 4 superfamily (TM4SF) of proteins, which are characterized by four membrane spanning domains. Tetraspanins, via various homotypic and heterotypic interactions, regulate the spatial location and trafficking of associated transmembrane partners, eventually regulating and co-ordinating various signaling pathways. CD63 functions as cell surface receptor for TIMP1 and plays a role in the activation of cellular signaling cascades. It promotes cell survival, reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton, cell adhesion, spreading, and migration. | Additional information: Clone REA444 displays negligible binding to Fc receptors. |
