Description | This GP9 antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide between 106-134 amino acids from the C-terminal region of human GP9. This gene encodes a small membrane glycoprotein found onthe surface of human platelets. It forms a 1-to-1 noncovalentcomplex with glycoprotein Ib, a platelet surface membraneglycoprotein complex that functions as a receptor for vonWillebrand factor. The complete receptor complex includesnoncovalent association of the alpha and beta subunits with theprotein encoded by this gene and platelet glycoprotein V. Defectsin this gene are a cause of Bernard-Soulier syndrome, also known asgiant platelet disease. These patients have unusually largeplatelets |
